Earleville waterfront riding destination earns top recognition from The Maryland Small Business Examiner for its rare Gypsy Vanner trail rides, full-service boarding, and one-of-a-kind river riding experiences
EARLEVILLE, MD — Grove Point Stables, the family-owned waterfront equestrian destination tucked along the Sassafras River in Cecil County, has been named the Best Equestrian Facility in Maryland for 2026 by The Maryland Small Business Examiner as part of its annual Best of Maryland Small Business Awards program.
The recognition celebrates a stable that has built a loyal following far beyond Maryland’s Eastern Shore — drawing riders, campers, and families from across the Mid-Atlantic to experience something almost no other facility in the state offers: guided trail rides aboard the unmistakable, long-maned Gypsy Vanner horse, with the option to take that ride straight into the water.
Located at 1855 Grove Neck Rd in Earleville, Grove Point Stables operates as a true full-service equestrian property. The farm offers private guided trail rides for visitors who don’t own horses, professional boarding for those who do, primitive equestrian camping from March through October, on-site fishing, and a private events venue — all on a working waterfront farm with some of the most scenic riding terrain in Cecil County.
A Riding Experience Unlike Anywhere Else in Maryland
What sets Grove Point apart is the breadth of experiences it has built around its herd of Gypsy Vanner horses. Visitors can choose from a Waterfront Farm Tour through forests, fields, and shoreline trails; an Evening Sunset Farm Tour timed to Earleville’s golden hour; a seasonal River/Swim Ride that takes adventurous guests directly into the water aboard horseback; or family-friendly Pamper and Pony experiences designed for younger riders and first-timers. A Paint Pamper and Pony Ride — complete with art supplies — has become a favorite for birthdays, group outings, and family days at the farm.
Every ride is private, every ride is guided, and every ride is photographed by the Grove Point team so guests leave with memories they can take home.
A Boarding Operation Built on Quality
For horse owners, Grove Point Stables offers a 12-stall barn, large run-in shelters, and quality five-strand white coated cable fencing across gender-segregated pastures that are reseeded yearly. Horses are fed locally produced Farm Choice grain made fresh by Delmarva Feed in Kennedyville and orchard grass hay grown on-site and processed by High Maples Farm. The farm also runs an organic Cowboy fly predator program and provides each boarder a dedicated tack space.
Boarders gain access to a 100′ x 200′ outdoor arena, a variety of cross-country jumps, miles of scenic trails, two stocked fishing ponds, and exclusive discounts on Grove Point’s events.
A Destination for Equestrian Campers
Grove Point’s equestrian camping program has become one of the most sought-after on the Eastern Shore. From March through October, the farm welcomes horse trailers and campers to primitive sites equipped with picnic tables and bonfire rings, with options for on-site corrals, dry stalls at the barn, and access to a bathhouse with a full shower, sink, and toilet. Complimentary kayaks and canoes are available for guests, and the riverfront location makes Grove Point a true destination — not just a stop.
Recognition Earned Through Service to the Community
“Grove Point Stables represents exactly the kind of small business this award was created to recognize,” said a spokesperson for The Maryland Small Business Examiner. “They’ve built something genuinely unique — a family-run waterfront equestrian operation that gives Maryland riders and visitors an experience they truly can’t get anywhere else. The dedication to their horses, their property, and their guests is evident in every detail, and they’ve earned a reputation that extends well beyond Cecil County.”
Grove Point Stables was selected for the 2026 Best of Maryland Small Business Award in recognition of exceptional horsemanship, outstanding equestrian experiences, and commitment to Maryland’s riding and outdoor community.
