LA PLATA — Charles County detectives arrested a 61-year-old Oxon Hill man on May 26 in connection with a road rage shooting that occurred on Brookwood Drive in White Plains on May 10.
According to detectives, the incident happened around 5:17 p.m. when the victim turned onto Brookwood Drive from Billingsley Road and observed a vehicle traveling toward her on the wrong side of the roadway. After honking her horn, the suspect stopped in front of her vehicle, produced a firearm and approached the victim and her mother, who was in the front passenger seat.
As the victims attempted to flee, the suspect fired two shots, striking their vehicle and disabling it. He then approached the passenger side and pointed the gun at the mother before fleeing the scene in a black Jeep Gladiator.
Detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division developed leads through canvassing and identified Parren Eric Swann as a suspect. They confirmed he owned a vehicle matching the description.
With assistance from the Prince George’s County Police Department, detectives served a search warrant at Swann’s residence in Oxon Hill. Swann was taken into custody at the home, where two firearms were recovered.
Investigators then served a second search warrant at a storage unit Swann maintained in Waldorf, where three additional handguns were seized.
Swann was transported to the Charles County Detention Center and charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault, weapons violations and other related offenses. He is currently being held without bond.
Authorities noted that Swann is prohibited from possessing firearms due to an active protective order unrelated to this case.
Detective Gregory is the lead investigator. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division.

Charles County officials have not released further details about the investigation or the condition of the victims’ vehicle. The charges against Swann are allegations, and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
