UPDATE 8/27/2027: The Independent Investigations Division (IID) of the Maryland Office of the Attorney General is investigating a police-involved collision that occurred on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, in Brandywine, near the county line between Prince George’s County and Charles County, Maryland. The preliminary investigation revealed that on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at approximately 10:20 a.m., officers with the Charles County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) initiated a traffic stop of a vehicle after receiving information from law enforcement in Arlington County, Virginia. The vehicle fled from the stop. CCSO officers pursued the vehicle. The vehicle subsequently collided with two other, uninvolved cars on Route 301, just south of McKendree Road. CCSO officers reached the scene shortly after the collision. Two adult women in the fleeing vehicle were transported to an area hospital, with one woman in grave condition. An adult woman in one of the uninvolved cars also suffered injuries and was transported to the hospital. No officers were injured during the incident. The IID, with assistance from the Maryland State Police Crash Team, is investigating the circumstances leading up to the collision.
