ROCKVILLE, Md. – September 1, 2026 – Montgomery Community Media (MCM) has been awarded a $90,464 grant from the Maryland State Arts Council (MSAC) for Fiscal Year 2027. The award is part of MSAC’s Grants for Organizations (GFO) program, which provides general operating support to nonprofit and tax-exempt organizations that produce or present ongoing arts programming that is open to the public.
MCM has received MSAC funding consecutively since 2022. The GFO program supports organizations that provide access to the arts, uplift communities, and contribute to the economic impact of the arts throughout Maryland.
The grant funds will support MCM’s continued coverage and promotion of the arts and creative community throughout Montgomery County, while advancing several priorities outlined in MCM’s 2025–2027 Strategic Plan. This includes support of MCM’s Digital Futures Institute (DFI) youth programs and MCM’s new coffee house-style original open-mic series, Studio A Sessions, featuring host Bryant “BeMo” Brown, which debuts in September.
Funding will also support MCM’s efforts to diversify and expand its programming to include more digital storytelling, community-led content, collaborative programming with local partners, and original MCM productions. Through these efforts, MCM will continue creating accessible platforms for local artists, creators, and organizations to share their work and connect with audiences throughout the county.

MCM encourages local artists, arts organizations, and community groups to share information about upcoming arts events, programs, exhibitions, performances, and other creative happenings in Montgomery County through MCM’s tip line. Community submissions help MCM identify and highlight the people, organizations, and events shaping the county’s arts and cultural landscape.
