Prince Frederick Woman Arrested After Grocery Store Theft and Assault on Deputy

Sommer Lee West, 40, of Prince Frederick, has been charged in Calvert County with theft less than $100, theft of $100 to under $1,500, second-degree assault on a law enforcement officer, malicious destruction of property valued under $1,000, and making a false statement to an officer, according to District Court records. The case, filed May 21, 2026, remains open in District Court for Calvert County. According to the statement of probable cause, a deputy with the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office responded at about 9:28 a.m. on May 21, 2026, to Weis Market on Prince Frederick Boulevard in Prince Frederick for a reported theft that had just occurred. Dispatchers described the suspect as a petite white female wearing a turquoise hoodie and black slacks, with brunette hair tied in a bun. Deputies later located a woman matching that description walking through a nearby bank parking lot. Court documents state that West was initially detained, but deputies did not find stolen merchandise on her person, and she was released from custody.
