Charles County Department Of Social Services Hosting Family Resource Event This Weekend

-

LA PLATA, Md. — The Charles County Department of Social Services will host its annual Bond and Beyond community event on Saturday, June 6, offering families an opportunity to connect with local resources, support services, and community organizations.

The free event will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Charles County Department of Social Services, located at 200 Kent Ave. in La Plata.

Organizers say the event is designed to help residents better understand the services available through the department and its community partners before child welfare involvement becomes necessary. The event is open to all Charles County families and family types.

Attendees will have access to information about caregiving supports, community resources, and opportunities to learn about becoming resource or kinship parents. Local vendors, partner organizations, and service providers will also be on hand to share information and connect families with available programs.

In addition to educational resources, the event will feature games and activities for all ages, food, music, dancing, giveaways, and special treats.

The Maryland Department of Human Services said the event aims to educate the community about the role of the Department of Social Services and the variety of programs available to support children and families.

Organizers encourage residents to attend and learn more about the resources available throughout Charles County.
