Summer Skate Returns With Weekly Themes Through August

LEONARDTOWN — St. Mary’s County Recreation & Parks has announced the return of Friday Summer Skate at Leonard Hall Recreation Center, with sessions running from June 26 through August 14, 2026.

Each Friday, families can participate in roller skating from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the indoor arena. Admission costs $5 per person, with skate rentals available for an additional $2.50. The program features a different theme each week.

Themes include Flashback Friday on June 26, encouraging retro styles; Red, White & Blue Day on July 3 to celebrate America’s 250th birthday; Winter in July on July 10 for a “Frozen” winter wonderland experience; Prince & Princess Day on July 17 for a royal and magical session; Mix & Match Day on July 24 for goofy costumes; Superhero Skate on July 31; Team Spirit Day on August 7 to wear favorite sports team apparel; and Beat the Heat on August 14 with popsicles and cool treats.

Leonard Hall Recreation Center also offers Family Skate every Sunday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., excluding holidays. This event welcomes skaters of all ages and skill levels. Admission remains $5 per person, with rentals at $2.50, and participants may bring their own skates.
